Anyone familiar with Provigil usage and/or abuse? - can you take provigil and adderall

I know many, many students choose the misuse of Provigil to gain time to study and work. Why is Provigil (modafinil) for the preferred "learning partner" instead of Adderall, Focalin, Concerta, etc?
